This preserve is accessible by plane or boat from Eagle or Circle. There are scheduled hikes and programs at the preserve, as well as a visitor center in Eagle. Historic attractions in the park include Coal Creek Dredge and camp, which was a bush gold operation during the gold rush, and cabins used by trappers, miners, and woodcutters.

This historic mining town located just outside of fairbanks offers a dining hall buffet, old-style saloon shows and a hotel. The site is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
